Tucson Gardening

This is another article of mine that was published fairly recently in “N” magazine, the quarterly of The Naturist Society Foundation. When we set up the new communal sweat on my property, I took it upon myself to provide a meditative, healthy atmosphere for the community’s members to wander in, while they languished between sauna rounds. It is also a gathering space for fundraisers, memorials, and other social events pertaining to The Tucson Family Sweat Alliance (TFSA). It is where DF and I live a significant portion of our clothes free life under the sun. I’ve added a few additional illustrative pictures.

Desert Gardening

Here in Baja Arizona, creating a Garden of Eden to live in has unique challenges. We have over 300 days of sunshine in Tucson each year, but precious few days of seasonal rains. That’s great for living naked, but a challenge for our flora.

Life as Art

I read this comment from an artist explaining how it is that he paints his art while working nude:

“…Why naked? It’s my way of staying in the moment and away from a mind that likes to tell me how wrong or bad a line is. Nudity silences my inner critic. It kinda sounds like the voice of my mother. It’s not a kind voice. It’s always disappointed.  Naked I have to be here, now, no way around it, and keenly aware. I feel the vast openness in a meadow painting the sky. If I were dressed, I could never feel, as open, as exposed to the forces I seek to capture.  I like it that way. Art is about feeling. What I feel is what I draw. Nudity enforces the memory, the moment. It’s not a quest to meet God, it’s a quest to meet reality.  Clothing is a fantasy, a wish, a kind of hiding…”

I relate to this, but not because I make art. There is a difference and a similarity, not just for me and many others, but including several philosophers and gurus. There is a tendency to understand “Life as Art.” The more fully immersed and experienced, the richer becomes the expression.

I live my life nude. Life is a rich experience, yet richer in a natural and free existence, when making the most of my senses and being. Inspiration is a gift, a wonder that comes out of seemingly nowhere. All that I must do is to be ready for it, when it arrives.

Why am I wearing these CLOTHES? 2025#9

I don’t really need the approval that being fashionable brings. I’d rather just hear someone notice that I’m healthy. I’d rather put my effort into doing things that are healthy, rather than fashion. I’d rather be healthy, than try to cover up and only try to look that way.

Why am I wearing these clothes?

I know walking down the street naked is not everyone’s cup of tea, or preference, and if someone wants to decorate themselves that’s certainly okay and fun. It’s not right to tell people to get undressed and it’s not right to tell people to cover up.

BUT, the simple truth is that when a nude body, especially one’s own, becomes an issue, then something is out of whack. Nude is actually normal. Obsessed with being dressed is not so normal.

So, why am I wearing these clothes?

While we are away, mostly in a world without internet, telephones, Walmart, or dress codes, I have a few articles caught up with and scheduled to publish, but also, I have this series of shorts. I had planned to make a video of this and perhaps I still will, but I thought that it might be something nice to fill in, until we return with a ton of new tales to tell and show to you.

Why am I WEARING these Clothes? 2025#8

Clothing is rarely authentic. The meanings of clothing are just a daydream, something that somebody made up.

Seriously, why am I wearing these clothes?

The sun feels so very good all over, the breeze does, too. The touch of the earth, the textures of every contact with this body, it is a miracle and it is amazing. What a fun experience to be natural.

I climb and stretch better unconfined, my body does fascinating things and I feel gratitude to experience them.

I feel free and wonderful, my arms out wide, walking and feeling the wonder of just being alive, nude.

I appreciate mango sorbet and I appreciate being in this body. Appreciation and gratitude is so very much mentally healthy and healing.

Why would I want to wear these clothes?

While we are away, mostly in a world without internet, telephones, Walmart, or dress codes, I have a few articles caught up with and scheduled to publish, but also, I have this series of shorts. WHY, am I Wearing these Clothes? 2025#7

I’m naturally sexual with, or without clothing.

Nude people don’t rape, get sexy or look to get laid any more than clothed people.

It isn’t about sexy clothing when nude… Thoughts and feelings happen… it’s the culture and belief that make the actions… Without the dress up, I’m more apt to cuddle, to be my emotions, to be the honest feelings that I am.

I like embracing my body and this life. You know, these are life’s gifts.

So, why am I wearing these clothes?

Naked is not “adult” or something not fit for kids. Nude fits into a child’s life very well, until somebody comes along and convinces them differently.

My naked body is not adult entertainment, unless somebody chooses to make it so.  Someone must decide that it is so. Someone must choose to create the attitudes, the context and project their imposition onto my body. Someone else must teach real people the lies.

Why these clothes?

In my naked body I am authentically me. Being merely naked, my body is innocent of an adult context. It is wholesome and natural, fit for anyone to know at any age, mine, or theirs. All of this “adult” context is someone else’s problem, or their chosen pleasure.

My body simply feels as it does and is what it is. I know that I am not obscene when I’m undressed.

Why, am I wearing these CLOTHES? 2025#6

Nude, I’m cleaner…I’m more healthy.. more comfortable…I’m nonthreatening. This should mean, that I’m more socially viable, a safer person.

Why clothes?

Some days… it’s hot outside and nude feels much better… Yesterday was just plain beautiful… The clothing just shuts off the experience of those BLESSINGS…

It’s my naturism. So…Why am I wearing these clothes?

Why AM I wearing these clothes? 2025#5

I have no religion that requires any kind of dress.

Nude is not my dishonor. My nudity actually honors what I am.

What’s with me wearing these clothes?

I feel foolish in these clothes with all things considered. Looking back at old pictures… I notice that fashion gets mighty bizarre through time. Most people don’t even seem to realize it… Then, they look back a few years later of photos of bizarre hair styles, strange plastic belts, odd shapes and weird accessories.

Why clothes?

Why am I Wearing these Clothes? 2025#4

During those covid days, social status was something that got disused… like my closet door.

It was set aside, and that is where it belongs… I enjoyed having it put in its actual place, along with its associated competition and stress.

I’m not afraid without these clothes. I don’t need their protection.

Why am I wearing them?

Naturally naked, I feel more spiritual… connected… more aware in every moment… The worldly, all of that stuff, the rest of it…it falls away and the present becomes a wonderful place. I’m more in touch with who I am…I’m a being having an experience in this body, with feelings, and a billion sensations.

Naturally naked is the real stuff.

So, WHY am I wearing these clothes?

So, Why am I wearing these clothes? 2025#2

I have no shame… Obviously, I’m not supposed to suffer shame.

I accept me as I am… My nude body isn’t dangerous… I’m safe to be around… I just spent months hanging around with this naked body and just a few others and we would all say that that is certainly fact.

So, Why am I wearing these clothes?

Why am I wearing these clothes? 2025#3

MY health is MY message.  When my body is exposed to myself and others it advertises my state of health. That’s about it… I’m not a billboard for something else, other than what I am.

Adding clothing just makes everything more complicated… If I have a message, I can just express myself by opening my mouth, or moving this body.

I don’t need clothing to provide emotional security.

I have no embarrassment when this body is being seen…why would I?

Nothing could be more individual or unique than my natural outfit? The choice is made simply and very easily.

Naked is much better than living in uniforms. Uniformity can be painfully dishonest. It can be demeaning and categorical.

So, Why am I wearing these clothes?
